INTRODUCING PNMW
Agnes Jorgensen and André Chatelain are the Founders of ‘Painting a New World \ Peindre un Nouveau Monde‘ (PNMW). We are artists who believe we can make a difference by helping other artists.
PNMW is a charitable non-profit organization, dedicated to
inspire young people of Africa to become leaders through art.
In shaping a better future for themselves, they will empower
themselves and help transform the perception of Africa. The main objectives of the organization are :
(a) to provide art supplies and funding for education in the visual arts to the young people of Africa and other developing regions of the world thereby enabling them to express and realize their artistic talents. In order to support the young artists and their communities PNMW is promoting, marketing and creating events to sell their creative artworks.
(b) to conduct art instruction programs in Canadian schools and assist the Canadian students involved in those programs with the sale of their art work, thereby promoting interest in and raising funds to support the organization’s activities in the developing world.
Art nurtures inventiveness as it engages children in a process that aids in the development of self-esteem, self-discipline, co-operation and self-motivation.
In Kenya, August 2008, PNMW and a group of school children produced a mural which was auctioned to a generous and enthusiastic group of Canadian and American guests of Free the Children (FTC) organization. The auction resulted in a $15,000 donation to FTC; enough to build a school classroom and a well for access to clean water.
PNMW
will run a mural program in October 2010. The murals will be
used for fundraising activities to support PNMW to build art
centres in developing countries.
